11th February 2019

Our run of players making positive developments competitively continued this weekend, with Sami, Liam & Srinidhi all representing us fantastically.

Sami, 11, made a run all the way to the final of a 14&U County Tour event in Purley. A notable win in his first round, beating a Team GB player convincingly, 4-1 4-0. He backed this up with 2 more strong performances before facing a very strong opponent in the final. Sami put his efforts down to a stronger mentality and embracing the challenge of competing 100% of the time.

Liam and Srinidhi both travelled to play in the final 10&U National events of the season, Liam at Bolton and Srinidhi in Norwich. Both of them achieved a 5th place finish, winning 4/5 matches each and hopefully securing their respective places at the season ending Grade 1 National Finals at the NTC.

Liams run was stopped in the QFs, losing a tight match vs the #1 seed, 5-4  5-3. Liam once again demonstrated his ability to bounce back, winning both his matches on the following day, one particularly strong effort against a player he has previously lost to.

Srinidhi achieved her best ever finish at Nationals by cruising through her 1st 2 matches before coming up short in the QFs. Like Liam, she bounced back the following day to win both matches, the final match going to a tie break with Srinidhi winning 7-0!

Well done Sami, Sridnihi and Liam - see you on court this week to prepare for more competitive challenges over half term.
